CATEDRA UNESCO DE TURISMO CULTURAL

Why This Chair?

This is a joint initiative by the “Tres de Febrero” National University (President: Aníbal Jozami) and the Association of Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts (President: Julio César Crivelli), an interesting example of public-private partnership, aiming at developing knowledge and research to promote the protection of our cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible. An interdisciplinary and inter-institutional approach will be used to encourage the development of a sustainable type of tourism

Based on academic and research work in the field of cultural tourism, the University and the Association also seek to consolidate an alliance between conservation and development efforts in local communities of Latin America, with the purpose of overcoming poverty and exclusion while respecting their rich cultural and biological diversity.

Both Institutions are actively involved in fruitful work in the field of art and culture and have decided to join their efforts to implement this Chair, focused on two main objectives: the motivation of all stakeholders and the training of skills for efficiently managing their heritage, through the use of conceptual tools and the application of international conventions and guidelines for the field.
